Intent

At Wyndcliffe Primary School, we encourage our children to be inquisitive throughout their time at school and beyond. The school’s approach to Science will ensure that children are able to acquire scientific knowledge through scientific enquiry, practical experiences and scientific investigations. As a result, children will become enquiry based learners through research, investigation and evaluation of their observations. This will foster a healthy curiosity in children about how science works and why science matters in the universe. In addition, we expose our children to a wide range of scientific vocabulary to support the acquisition of scientific knowledge and understanding. We ensure that scientific skills are built-on and developed throughout children’s time at school, so that children can apply their existing knowledge of science when conducting experiments while building arguments to explain scientific phenomena.
